Biography: Theatre, Television, Film & Radio: 1985-1990

1985: Signed a 3-month contract with BBC TV to appear as 'Angie Watts' in the drama series "Eastenders". 17 million  viewers watched the first episode and the series quickly established itself as the BBC's most popular programme. Anita renewed the contract with BBC in April to appear in Eastenders for a further 18 months. In October, Eastenders achieved the number one and two positions in the TV ratings.

1986: In August, Anita appeared on Top of the Pops for BBC TV singing her top four hit -
'Anyone Can Fall in Love'  which earned her a silver disc.
22 September - The BBC released a special video compilation, "Eastenders - The Queen Vic".
Anita signed a further 18 months contract renewal with BBC TV in October.
Featured in "Just Another Day", a documentary for BBC TV.
Anita and the rest of the cast of Eastenders performed at the Royal Variety Show in the presence of HRH the Duchess of York.

1986/87:  Principle boy in 'Aladdin' at The Pavilion Theatre, Bournemouth, 
1987/88: Principle boy in 'Aladdin' at The Richmond Theatre, Surrey.
Following the success of Eastenders, Anita also appeared on many chat shows and made public appearances all over the UK.

1988: Anita decided not to renew her contract with Eastenders when it expired in April because she felt it was time to move on to new projects and challenges. However, the parting was amicable and the producers decided to leave the storyline open so that Anita could return to the series if ever she wanted to. She appeared in 273 episodes and during that time the programme attracted some of its highest ever viewing figures, most notably the Christmas episode of that year 194b 'Angie and Sharon walk out of the Queen Vic' (transmitted 25.12.1986) pulled in a 31.15m viewing figure.

1988/89: 'Hazel Fletcher' in a musical version of "Budgie" at the Cambridge Theatre, London, which also starred, among many, Adam Faith.

1989: 'Catherine Gordon' in 6 episodes of "Split Ends" for Granada TV.

1989/90: 'Alice Fitzwarren' in "Dick Whittington" at the Orchard Theatre, Dartford.

1990: 'Jane Fielder' in "Wild Justice" at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East.
'Roxanne' in "World of Eddie Weary", a 2-hour comedy drama for Yorkshire TV.
'Natasha' in "Rough Crossing" at the Kings Head in Islington.
